Abstract
The expansion of fiber optic networks in Latin America, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, has created an increasing demand for intelligent, scalable, and centralized platforms capable of managing network endpoints such as Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) and Optical Line Terminals (OLTs). This paper presents the evolution of the SMART-MANAGER V2 platform, a unified multi-tenant and multi-user computing architecture that integrates TR-069 and SNMP protocols for the comprehensive management of ONTs and OLTs, respectively. The proposed solution incorporates a semantic middleware layer based on the Semantic Sensor Network (SSN) ontology, enabling structured data processing, interoperability, and automation through rule-based actions. The platform also implements enhanced security through JSON Web Token (JWT) authentication and role-based access control (RBAC), while leveraging modern software engineering practices such as RESTful APIs, containerized deployment, and scalable database storage. Field deployment results in an Internet Service Provider (ISP) environment demonstrate high reliability, low latency, and efficient performance, validating the platform's suitability for cost-effective, large-scale remote management, particularly for small and medium-sized ISPs operating in resource-constrained environments.
