Abstract

The skin is the largest organ in the human body and hasgreat importance as it is an external cover that has asfunction to constitute a protective barrier. Having healthy skin guaranteesa highly developed repair system that makes it possible to maintain theintegrity against external aggressions; physical, chemical and biological. The useof medicinal plants has always been an alternative of practical and quick useto be able to treat both healthy skin and its conditions. Medicinetradition has subsisted through time by the knowledge transmittedorally by knowledgeable people to learners in the community toto be able to heal, the objective of the work compiled in this chapter is to systematizeinformation related to the use of medicinal plants in the careof the skin. As a search strategy, bibliographic documents areidentified in the documentary sources; Ministry digital libraryof Public Health-Ecuador, MIAR, VHL Regional Portal, ProQuest, repositoriesuniversities, ResearchGate, SciElo, ScienceDirect,Scopus, Springer, using the descriptors: Ecuador ethnobotany, plantsmedicinal plants Ecuador, useful plants Ecuador, ethnomedicine Ecuador,skin diseases Ecuador. The records obtained were 31 afterCombine different keywords.
