Abstract
The purpose of this qualitative study is to know the profile of the academic counselor teachers of the Salesian Polytechnic University based on their experience in the LALA Project (Learning Analytic Latino America) - Academic Counseling. In the research, the competencies that a Salesian academic counselor teacher should have were explored. The information was gathered through interviews with key informants and by working in group workshops with teachers who are counselors of students in the various careers of the university. As a result of the methodological process of the qualitative research, focused on the thematic analysis, the conceptual framework was created, which served as the basis for obtaining the profile of the Salesian academic advisor teacher. This profile highlights the multifaceted nature of their role, competencies, skills and commitment to the accompaniment and academic counseling for the growth of students. In the conclusions she sees the importance and need to carry out a comprehensive training process for academic advisor teachers. And the need to continue with research to improve the educational experience of students and strengthen the mission of Salesian education in the university context.
