Abstract
Chapter VI, Degrowth and the Laudato Si proposal as an alternative for innovation, written by José Alcides Baldeón Rosero and Jessica Lourdes Villamar Muñoz, systematizes the topic of degrowth as a strategy and innovative alternative for consumption, considering three sections: in the first, they identify and conceptualize degrowth as such; in the second, they reflect on degrowth in relation to Sumak Kawsay; and, in the third, they outline guidelines for degrowth as an alternative for current economic development. The authors suggest the need to make human beings aware of the use, innovation and renewal of natural resources; they consider that the proposal of Laudato Si and degrowth understood as a current of political, economic and social thought become the best alternative to institute new relationships of balance among human beings and between human beings and nature.
