Abstract
This article analyzes some elements of the proposal for initial teacher training made by the Higher Education Council, whose emphasis is on the design of the curriculum and the how of professional performance. It is argued that the proposal for initial teacher training, at the curricular level, when thought of as a design, annuls and silences the senses and meanings that the curriculum produces. This technical vision leaves aside the political commitment of initial training, since it assumes that a good curriculum developed by experts modifies and improves education. However, as I suggest in this article, a curriculum is not only quality in design or development, it is also a practice that signifies, produces meanings and subjects, and is in permanent dispute.
