Abstract

Studies of tissue culture in Citrus limon have focused on the influence of growth regulators for its propagation. In the present investigation the evaluation of the addition of activated carbon in the culture medium was carried out, obtaining better results than investigations on the addition of phytoregulators. In vitro cultivation of C. limon in Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium added with activated carbon (1 g.L-1), allowed obtaining favorable results in the variable days to germination and sprouting. In addition, curves were generated for the variables germination (introduction phase), stem length, number of shoots per plant, number of leaves per plant and leaf length (multiplication phase), which allows to follow its growth dynamics. Finally, the correlation between the increase in the number of shoots and the stem length was determined.
