Abstract
The economic growth in Latin America is influenced by the industrial sectors that in the countries are developed from the economic aspect with social repercussions. The purpose of this article is to determine the effect of the economic growth of the logistics sector on the Gross Domestic Product in Ecuador for the period 2009-2015. The methodology was referred to the review of the theories of Chow and Gill (2011); Forkenbrock and Foster (1990) and Gonzalez and Correa (1998), being integral correlational research, applying linear regression. The results show: a) The logistics sector is characterized by the transport, storage and communications industry; b) It highlights a relationship between the logistics industry and economic growth, demonstrating that there is a new classification of the industry; and c) The Gross Domestic Product is a determining factor in the relationship between economic growth and the logistics sector. It is concluded that the economic growth of the logistics sector, affects positively in the Gross Domestic Product of Ecuador, during the period studied.
