Abstract

In Ecuador the number of people with disabilities is increasing. The most recent data is published by CONADIS (National Council for Equality of Disability), whose official website registers 427,826 people with this condition to September 2017. These data reflect a worrying situation not only in our country but throughout the world because these statistics increase each year. Far from the numbers and closer to people we can notice that the subject of disability remains a matter of discrimination. One of the fields in which this segregation was very noticeable was education, due to the use of “labels” that are still used to refer to people with disabilities, such as “people with special abilities”, “problem people”, among other terms that generate barriers that people with disabilities must face. With the purpose of developing a research work addressed to favor the educational inclusion of students with disabilities, the TICAD research group (Information and communication technologies associated with disability) emerged at the Salesiana Polytechnic University in Guayaquil. This group presented the INCLED research project (Educational Inclusion of Students with Disabilities). Within it there are some components that seek to favor the processes of educational inclusion. This article aims to publicize the work done in this project, based on research to promote the educational inclusion of students with disabilities.
