Abstract

© 2017 IEEE. This paper presents the design, simulation and construction of Dual Band Rectangular Patch Antenna with coaxial feed for WiMAX (3.5-3.7GHz) and WBAN (3.9-4.1GHz) applications. The two frequency bands were obtained by a pair of parallel slots in a copper patch and a rectangular ground plane separated by an FR-4 substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.2 and a thickness of 1.6 mm. The design is analyzed with the HFSS simulator software. In addition, two antennas of similar characteristics have been fabricated and tested with the PXI equipment in the laboratory. The antennas otained a RLR (Return Loss Ratio) lower than-20 dB and the observed maximum bandwidth is 190 MHz for WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) and 220 MHz for WBAN (Wireless Body Area Network). Also, this document shows the result of the efficiency measurement for both antennas.
