Abstract
In a distant September 1997, the Management for Sustainable Local Development Career was born within the then Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Salesian Polytechnic University. Nearly 25 years have passed. It arose during the formative phase of the nascent university, and coincided with an important demand from social organizations, especially peasants and indigenous people who, supported by development cooperation agencies, were looking for answers to the need to train their own professionals. In some areas of the country, the indigenous movement had just won sectional elections and occupied, in an unprecedented manner, local government spaces.
