Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) offers new ways to visualize and understand complex information by overlaying digital elements on top of the real world, allowing students to interact with educational resources based on this technology. This article describes the development of an AR application designed to teach students computer assembly using Unity, a popular game development platform, and Vuforia, an AR tool compatible with Android devices. The application development process used RAD methodology started with identifying the requirements, defining the components of a computer that would be visualized in AR. A quasi-experimental methodology was implemented to evaluate the effectiveness of an AR application in learning computer assembly, compared to traditional teaching. For this purpose, the implementation of this subject was carried out in three educational institutions that are described as case studies in this work. The study showed that students who used the application of AR achieved greater understanding and retention of computer components compared to those who followed traditional methods. In addition, students reported increased motivation and interest in class, suggesting that AR can be a powerful tool for maintaining student engagement and attention. The development of AR educational applications represents a significant advance in education, providing students with modern tools to explore and understand complex concepts in a hands-on, immersive way.
