Abstract

This document presents the study and analysis of the main causes of electrical energy consumption measured by electrical devices (meters) given by technical and non-technical losses, in addition to the values to be paid in the invoices issued by the company in charge for end consumers (homes, buildings, industries, shopping centres). The information will be provided through a compilation of information taken from documents and the company Eléctrica Quito that is available on the web. Before that, we will present how electric meters work within the Ecuadorian sector, and the processes that must be carried out in case of problems and scams that may arise in the case. The work aims to present a study of the high costs to cancel due to the different types of losses, and making more emphasis on the theft of energy in electricity meters, poor meter measurements and poor billing for different social aspects and situations of need that may have involved (end consumers, internal workers of the electricity company).
