Abstract
The influential elements in the career progression of a universitylecturer remain an open research topic. Through data analytics,this study examines the Salesian Technical University ofEcuador case, correlating academic data with data generatedfrom the merit-based promotion process. The study highlightsthe benefits of motivating staff through promotion opportunitiesand investigates the most influential factors in academic careers. The research aims to identify strengths and weaknesses in theprofessional trajectory of lecturers, emphasizing the role ofscientific production through research. This key factor enhancesother elements typically considered in merit and promotionevaluations.
