Abstract
The article reflects on the curriculum based on professional competencies integrated in the education careers of the Ecuadorian university, analyzes the principles and foundations that guide the educational task represented by a diversity of ideological, anthropological, sociological, epistemological, pedagogical and psychological conceptions in which they are concretized. It consists of four parts: In the first part, it presents the background of the topic developed; it addresses the main problems, needs of the contexts and objectives; it determines the local and regional development trends included in the fields of study; it raises the main requirements of the Ecuadorian society. In the second part, it analyzes the general principles that govern the curriculum based on professional competencies, refers to the training fields of the curriculum; to the levels of curricular organization; to the basic cores of the disciplines that support the profession. In the third part, he reflects on competency-based curriculum planning; he reviews the orientations of knowledge and the knowledge taken into account in the construction of the object of study of the profession. In the fourth part, it presents some contributions of the curriculum based on integrated professional competencies for professional training and for the formation of human talent.
