Abstract

Tourism worldwide is one of the sectors that has grown the most in recent years, however in Ecuador this sector has been exposed to a threat that increases year after year called insecurity. The study analyzed the relationship between insecurity and the financial situation of companies in the tourism sector in Guayaquil. The research was basic, quantitative, with correlational scope, non-experimental design with longitudinal section, the population was made up of 373 companies. The Pearson correlation coefficient was applied to evaluate the strength of the association between both variables, using the SPSS program. The results showed a Pearson correlation index equal to 1, indicating a perfect positive correlation between the increase in crime and the deterioration of the financial situation of tourism companies. This finding suggests that as levels of insecurity increase, companies in the tourism sector experience a significant reduction in their income and profitability, affecting their economic stability. These results highlight the urgent need to implement effective public policies to mitigate insecurity and protect tourism activity in the city.
