Abstract
This text gathers the most relevant contributions of the research work developed in the Graduate Program in Digital Strategic Communication of the Salesian Polytechnic University. A contribution to the reflection on the role and performance of the media and its digital resources, especially in situations of social, political or economic conflict. The historical context in which the work is framed is the period of protests experienced in Ecuador during October 2019, following the issuance of Decree 883 by the then President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, through which fuel prices were increased. The reactions of the different social actors, indigenous organizations, political groups and citizens, were not long in coming; once the protest began, a state of exception was declared and its consequences in terms of prior censorship of the information that the mediamedia could disseminate about the current events. In this complex scenario and in view of the urgent need for information on the part of citizens, the role played by the media was placed at the center of the discussion, especially the messages disseminated through their social networks as part of the transmedia logic that characterizes the current times.
