Abstract
The presentation analyzes the conditions in which 401 students of the Careers of Initial, Basic, Law, Philosophy, Biomedicine and Biotechnology of the Salesian Polytechnic University, Quito-Ecuador Headquarters, in the context of the pandemic caused by COVID-19. The students belong to a medium-low socio-economic stratum and mostly mestizo in urban environment. The methodology used in the research was quantitative. It began with the collection of information about the conditions in which they held online classes. It continued with the analysis of the collected data considering the categories: physical conditions in which the online classes were given; socio-affective conditions (emotional environment of the pandemic) and methodology. It ended with the processing of the data. Among the main findings, it is highlighted that the conditions were not the most favorable for the students. These were characterized by sharing physical spaces, as well as devices for the development of online classes; lack of equipment for personal use; poor internet coverage; and, majority use of cell phone and data for connection to the network. Regarding socio-affective conditions, online classes were crossed by the death of some family members, stress, frustration and anxiety. Despite that, there was a commitment on the part of the students to continue with their training process. Regarding the methodology used for online classes, students did not perceive any inconveniences that put their learning at risk.
