The urgent need to contribute to the development of society, especially the most vulnerable sectors of the city of Guayaquil, has created a great interest in emphasizing the Dissemination of Regenerative Medicine with autologous stem cells. In recent years, great expectations have increased in the medical field that have generated life expectancy in patients with terminal diseases. The objectives of the present study were to describe the degree of knowledge about regenerative medicine in patients and journalists in the city of Guayaquil and to describe the level of diffusion of stem cell treatments in the Ecuadorian media. A quantitative methodology was used through an exploratory study with descriptive analysis of the object of study. The sampling was non-probabilistic and intentional. The sample consisted of 372 patients and 338 journalists (N=710) and structured interviews and surveys were used to collect information. The results show a scarce dissemination of regenerative medicine in the Ecuadorian media. This work opens new paths for the promotion and development of communication models based on the development of campaigns for scientific dissemination.
