Abstract
Ecuador is located in an area of high seismic risk and, being affected by large earthquakes, has opted for the implementation of new structural technologies, one of these being energy dissipaters. For this reason, the objective of this paper is to carry out a comparative analysis between SLB type seismic dissipaters and BRB restrained buckling braces, which starts from base models taken from Yaguana et al. which have a metallic structural composition and essential occupation. To visualize the effects of the aforementioned devices, a total of six buildings were modeled, dividing them into three for each dissipater, and then they were subjected to a static analysis and spectral modal analysis. Considering that the dissipaters act in the non-linear range, a Pushover analysis was chosen considering the FEMA and ASCE 41-13 regulations in order to obtain the capacity curve and performance level. With the results obtained, it has been demonstrated that SLB heatsinks have a superior performance, achieving a 50 % reduction in drift in a four-story building compared to BRB heatsinks, being one of the most representative between both heatsinks.
