Abstract
This paper is based on the research entitled "Role of community radio stations in Ecuador from the Constitution of 2008 and its relationship with citizen participation and the socio-cultural development of their communities."This document is part of the final work of the Doctorate in Social Sciences at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana de Medellín. The investigation analyzes the fact that from the twentieth Constitution of Ecuador promulgated in 2008 and the Organic Law of Communication issued in community radio stations have not developed as established, moreover, for the year 2017 5.03% had community media, of which 99% were broadcasters, that is, until the year in question, there was 28.87% of the radio spectrum pending to be used by the media community.
