Abstract
It is evident that new technologies have modified our lifestyle, not only in the interaction of young people, but also at work, because tools are used that benefit tasks. With the incursion of artificial intelligence, the processes of preparing documents are better managed. productsin multinationals. After the COVID-19 pandemic, all educational centers added the use of technologies to their teaching process; some teachers showed an aversion to this type of training because they did not understand how it works. But after a certain time, the level of positivity for teachers and students was reflected with applications such as Padlet, Lino, Kahoot, among others, which allowed opening the gap in the exchange of perspectives between students. Reviewing history, we quote Célestin Freinet, who in the 20th or 30th century brought the school printing press to his classroom, convinced of changing the memoristic and mechanical processes that are only repetition of content. It is not necessary to create a subject titled digital citizenship, but rather to enhance humanities subjects with the use of ICT and encourage young people to respect and take responsibility for their actions. The research approach corresponds to the qualitative and quantitative method, which aims to manage information and verify real results. The population is made up of 100 students and parents, taking as a sample 25 from each group who are part of the high school section of an educational institution in the city of Guayaquil - Ecuador, the survey will be applied as an instrument. Education in digital citizenship is a key element to overcome the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities presented by today's digital society. By providing students with the skills and awareness necessary to be responsible and aware digital citizens, we are paving the way for a future where technology is used ethically, safely and effectively. Digital citizenship and education are two sides of the same coin, and together they can promote a more inclusive and ethical digital society.
