Abstract
Science and technology have brought about substantial changes in the lives of human beings, making a significant contribution to their well-being. At the same time, they have been responsible for many of their current problems and crises. On this basis, a branch of knowledge has been formed around Science, Technology and Society (STS) that studies the relationship between these three elements in order to raise awareness of the risks implicit in technological development. In response to the urgent effort of reflection and awareness that this topic provokes, a group of professors of the Salesian Polytechnic University of Ecuador publishes this text that gathers contributions of analysis and contributions for other academics, students and even institutions on a problem that every day becomes more current due to its impact on the daily life of human beings and the future of the planet.
