Abstract
This work gathers the memory of the Chimbacalle neighborhood, located in the south center of the city of Quito, through the testimonies of the people who live there, who tell how were the early years, the exodus of 2000 and some of their current practices. The research concludes that Chimbacalle is more than the train, an emblematic means of transportation in the city. The neighborhood is its people and its traditions, it is the people who are alive and who can tell the story and pass it on to the generations. Chimbacalle is not a neighborhood that remained in the past of a working class town, or stayed in the time when the factories were disappearing. This neighborhood is alive in the memory of its people, it is alive in the music that with new rhythms carries the name of Chimbacalle everywhere.
