Abstract
American societies in the 21st century face a political, economic, social and cultural context that demands deep reflection on the type of education necessary for the future. Despite the complex and unequal challenges that define their situation, marked by poverty and vulnerability, entire communities persist in their efforts to forge new ways of life and build a better world, sustained by hope and a utopian vision. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the challenges of university education of the future and the contributions of transdisciplinary decolonial pedagogy to achieve the goals of SDG 4. The methodology worked is framed in the qualitative tradition, especially with the hermeneutic method and design that allows interpreting the texts in their context. It is concluded that the challenges of education in the future are varied and need creative approaches. One of the most notable challenges is to ensure quality, inclusive and equitable education for all, as established by Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 4. This implies overcoming disparities in access and quality of education, as well as the elimination of obstacles that affect marginalized populations. Transdisciplinary decolonial pedagogy brings a valuable perspective by focusing on decolonizing knowledge and promoting a more just, diverse and equitable education, which can significantly contribute to achieving this purpose.
