Abstract
From the Vice Rectorate of Research of the Salesian University, we were invited to reflect on the subject of Covid19 or SarsCov2, when the situation, during the months of March and early April, became tragic and dramatic for the city of Guayaquil where the two researchers, authors of these lines, have been living for some years: one Ecuadorian and the other Venezuelan. We have united these reflections into one because they complement each other. In this sense, the present work tries to contribute to this situation, from a phenomenological and hermeneutic perspective, on the care of oneself, epimeleia, proposed by Foucault and the otherness from Levinas' approaches, in times of pandemic. Where the restlessness of the self, impregnated by the presence of the other, the other as family, friend, companion, teacher, is the reflection and self-portrait of the other; is the reflection and self-portrait of what we are as subjects, overcoming the reification imposed by the paradigm of modernity, where otherness is understood not only as the mere contact with the other, but as a much closer relationship, as a circumstance of meeting the other from the immediacy, where the other is recognized from the exteriority and the development of the self in relation to the other, where language plays a fundamental role to establish the intersubjective criteria. It is concluded that, in this care of the self, in times of pandemic, the other, the neighbor, is indispensable to develop this praxis of the self, in times of pandemic. this praxis of self, in which, in order to reach our own self, the other is indispensable. indispensable. It is a social practice, which leads us to rethink relationships as rational subjects of action in relationships as rational subjects of action in inter-subjective and intercultural dialogue that intercultural dialogue that invites us to be united, to take care of each other and to rethink our and rethink our life project to reaffirm ourselves as free subjects and transform this society.
