Abstract

The main objective of this article is to analyze the characteristics of the main Ecuadorian companies according to the ranking of the Superintendency of Companies, Securities, and Insurance, methodologically evaluating the relationship between net profit and the variables region, type of companies, sectors, and sizes of the companies. Companies using Pearson and Spearman correlations, based on verifying normality between the range of 0.40 to 0.58 with the Shapiro-Wilk test. The results show a moderate relationship between assets and net profit of 0.58, being the most significant. At the same time, the operating time doesn’t present a correlation with the net profit with values of -0.02, allowing Ecuadorian companies to be characterized on factors key to business performance.
