Abstract
In a megadiverse country like Ecuador, botanical photography stands out as a successful tool for multidisciplinary work between artists and scientists. The objective of this research was to establish procedures and photographic databases of Ecuadorian flora for free artistic expression through digital botanical illustrations. A production of 110 images of floral specimens was obtained and exhaustively identified, 40 of which were selected for the artists' call; 22 were native plants, 12 endemic, and 6 introduced. The photographic cataloging and multidisciplinary work were key to the success of the photographic records and captures. The results of the research promoted environmental awareness, the development of design, and botanical photography as essential knowledge for the generation, transmission, and intellectual appropriation of botanical resources in Ecuador.
