Abstract
This essay is an initial approach to the research training of the Pedagogy Career of the Salesian Polytechnic University of Ecuador (UPS) and was prepared as a requirement of the course "Social problems of science and technology" taught in the city of Havana as part of the doctorate in Pedagogical Sciences that the author is studying. The theoretical approach used is that of the Science, Technology and Society (STS) field, through which the interrelationships between research, science, technology and the social-historical context that make up this complex framework are made evident.
