Abstract

Attention to diversity emerges from the exigence of new educational paradigms, that have evolved with social, political and cultural movements, trying to respond to the present and to understand human diversity. The Church must reflect about the actual world to propose a new way to evangelize. Pastoral actions, even the catechesis, have to take into account the perspectives of inclusion. Not considering the diversity might create barriers, resistance, and failure to achieve their mission. The Universal Design for Learning UDL becomes a suitable framework to attend diversity and secure the announcement of the gospel. This study aims to describe the educational practices used by a group of ecuatorian catechists from the perspective and principles of UDL. The participants filled out a survey adapted from the templates of CAST. The results show the specific needs of catechists and how to use UDL in their practices.
