Abstract

This article presents the results obtained from savings accumulated power and tons of CO2 avoided by these savings, depending on the application of minimum energy performance standards and labeling for domestic refrigerators in Mexico for the period 1994-2025, by using methodology of system dynamics. These results represent the impact on the effectiveness of the product in the Mexican market for the first twenty years after the energy efficiency indexes implemented; a projection also verifies the behavior based on the 2025. This analysis would allow the Mexican government to compare the benefits obtained in the actual situation and initially foreseen in the program, and provide a point of very valuable reference for other countries considering the introduction of standards in energy efficiency for domestic refrigerators in their local realities and for energy policy community whole.
