Abstract
This exploratory research develops a state of the art on the competencies and profile of the communicator. It takes as a reference for analysis the review of twenty academic articles on the communicator's profile and competencies, found in the Scopus database, between 2010 and 2014. It is a systematization of critical contributions to be taken into account when elaborating a communicator profile, as a product of university professional training. This work seeks an approach to the ideal profile of the university communicator from the academic analysis, putting into discussion the research contributions made around the topic in question. The development of this article is important because there are not enough works that address the subject in a precise manner, especially in Latin America and specifically in Ecuador.
