Abstract
This paper presents the application of a control loop selection and controller tuning methodology to control a nonlinear multivariable system called boiler-turbine unit. Two scenarios were considered and two design concepts (control loop combinations) were defined, each with six objectives. It is shown how the methodology allows establishing a global comparison framework for each design concept and provides detailed information to a designer so that according to his preferences he can select an adequate solution to control the system under study.
