Abstract

Ecuador houses an incredible diversity and wealth of knowledge, ancestral knowledge that allows us to delve into our identities, customs, interrelation with others, a magic that is transported from generation to generation, from parents to children, for a better life, generating well-being. by valuing and using what the earth produces. These are not only indigenous peoples and nationalities, but also mestizos who live in the rural parishes of the different cantons and cities of the country, who carry great wisdom and who need to be rescued. This book is a valuable study carried out in the 21 rural parishes of the Cuenca canton: Sinincay, Chiquintad, Checa, Octavio Cordero Palacios, Sidcay, Llacao, Ricaurte, Baños, Molleturo, Chaucha, Cumbe, San Joaquín, Victoria del Portete, Sayausí, Nulti, Paccha, Quingeo, Sana Ana, Tarqui, Turi and El Valle. Here the interest in maintaining the tradition of the use of medicinal plants stands out, so welcomed by our ancestors, but in danger of disappearing due to the lack of interest of young people today, due to multiple situations such as migration to other countries.
