Abstract
This article, Analysis of the segment "La Comunidad" of the 24 Horas newscast of Teleamazonas of Ecuador, presents a follow-up of each of the notes presented in the segment "La Comunidad". Likewise, this follow-up was carried out during one week, in order to determine the role of this media when presenting information. The methodology used in this research is descriptive observation, for which a matrix is designed in which the variants of the time designated to each note and the follow-up of the news are collected; in this way, it is concluded that the segment La Comunidad, of the 24-hour newscast, follows up on the news presented and fulfills the role of mediator to provide solutions to the requests of citizens; acts that reflect the existence of citizen participation in the media.
