Abstract

The budget of a nation is made up of economic resources, such as the collection of income through taxes (Pacheco et al., 2019). In that sense, taxes provide economic efficiency. In the opinion of the authors Torres and Ochoa (2017), States do not make policy changes unless these are related to taxes. These help to correct economic deficits, which is why they are always modified through regulations or new resolutions are issued by the tax administration. The ISD started with a percentage of 0.5%, which in 2011 was 2%. In 2012, the increase in the percentage burden of 2% was established through the Environmental Promotion Law, and a benefit such as the ISD tax credit was also created (Arévalo et al., 2013). These reforms seek to benefit sectors of the Ecuadorian economy, especially the export sector. Before these benefits, taxes paid increased the cost of products offered abroad, making them less competitive compared to similar products from other countries (Pesantez et al., 2021).
