Abstract

In this article we designed a hybrid electrical system between renewable and conventional generation with connection to the public power grid, for a residential building in the city of Quito, which proves to be technically feasible and economically optimal. The system was modeled with the help of the hybrid optimization software for renewable electric energy Homer Pro, the Micro-Grid system is environmentally friendly and beneficial for sustainable development saving 39.69% of annual operating costs and reduces CO2 emissions by 18.08% per month. The design was based on the use of an electric gas generator with CHP to supply the building with hot water for sanitary use, in addition to the ample space on the terrace for the use of photovoltaic panels. The results indicate that the system is optimal and adaptable for residential buildings using the maximum available natural resources.
