Abstract

This article presents a comparative analysis of three no frost refrigerators of equal characteristics, operating with HC R600a refrigerant and HFC R134a refrigerant. For the analysis, operating temperatures were measured, energy consumption was determined and, finally, the coefficient of performance (COP) was calculated for each case. The three domestic refrigerators used were of the same model and capacity, with the difference that the first one used a 1/4 hp compressor charged with R134a, while the other two refrigerators used 1/4 hp and 1/6 hp compressors charged with R600a. From these dynamics it was determined that the COP of the refrigerator with R600a and 1/4 hp compressor is 2.7 and with the 1/6 hp compressor is 4.8, while with the refrigerant R134a and 1/4 hp compressor is 3. 5; also the maximum temperatures reached in the elements of the refrigeration system loaded with R600a and 1/6 hp compressor were -33.92 ° C at the evaporator inlet, 60.73 ° C at the compressor outlet, 37.53 ° C at the inlet of the compressor and 36.75 ° C at the condenser outlet.
