Abstract

The analysis of the content present in the cigarette filter serves to determine the amount of nicotine and tar present, as well as the degradability of the filter. For this, we took a conventional filter and two additional ones from the startup. With the objective of improving the quality of people, the environment and society. The procedure for the determination of nicotine is carried out by means of a dilution of the filter and a white sample; and, the tar by means of the collection of cigarette smoke inside an Erlenmeyer flask, which presents a fiberglass filter afterwards, is taken to the gas chromatograph. To determine biodegradation the composition is considered. The comparative analysis is carried out in relation to the amount of nicotine and tar trapped in the filter, as well as its biodegradation; in this way the most acceptable composition of the filter for cigarettes can be known.
