The objective of this article is to generate a strategic plan that increases the urban green index to propose sustainable solutions in the design of compact cities taking as a case study El Empalme. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to prioritize proposals for a solution to the problem of the design of use of green areas in the El Empalme canton. The comparison matrix by pairs and the application of the own vector method allowed to obtain a quantitative assessment of the proposed alternatives.
