Abstract
Pachagsí, after being recognized as a legal community, has struggled for access to water. The systematization of the processes of struggle for access to water is based on a review of the history of the first settlers of Pachagsí. It is evident that the community arose from a sad reality: forced and unpaid labor in the haciendas in exchange for grazing animals, lack of arable land and lack of water for human consumption and irrigation. All this generated desperation and social conflict and, in turn, encouraged the villagers to organize and initiate important processes of struggle for land and water. The life of Luciano Buñay, one of the main leaders of Pachagsí, is a reflection of this struggle for several years until the objective was achieved. After a long struggle, today he enjoys the results achieved.
