Abstract
The Abya-Yala Cultural Center is a Salesian institution whose purpose is to promote interculturality and the identity of the indigenous peoples of Latin America as well as to provide references on cultures and peoples and to inform civil society about their rights by creating, from the social sciences, new possibilities for an intercultural society. Its action has given shape to several cultural and academic initiatives, the best known of which is the Abya-Yala Publishing House, along with the Applied Anthropology Career, the Documentation Center and the Amazon Museum, all of which are located in Quito.
