Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

his article analyzes the knowledge held by young people with multiple disabilities and their teachers regarding sexuality education, sexual abuse, and its prevention. The objective of this research is to identify perceptions, experiences, and challenges related to these topics, as well as to propose methodological strategies to strengthen the prevention of sexual abuse in this population. A qualitative study with a phenomenological approach was conducted with the participation of 14 professionals and 19 young people. Data collection was conducted through structured interviews. The results reveal a low level of recognition of sexual abuse as a public health problem, although there is clear awareness of the need to educate young people in the care of their integrity. Significant obstacles to the early detection of sexual abuse in people with multiple disabilities are also identified. The methodological proposal proposes the use of sensory dolls and mobile applications as innovative tools to improve communication, promote sexuality education, and contribute to the prevention of sexual abuse in this vulnerable population.
