Abstract
This essay is the result of a process of research and reflection based on experiences in the exercise of university teaching and the challenges, possibilities and responsibilities of the profession. It highlights, disagrees and delves into some of the intricacies and enigmas of a communication ethics that should correspond to the training of communicators and the professional practice. The purpose of these insights is to analyze why higher education in communication needs to refocus not only on theory and practice, but also on the principles that should govern the practice of communication. To this end, a critical look at the models of ethics that overlap in communicative interaction is presented and, finally, this concern is placed in the framework of a hermeneutic analysis proposal that allows us to answer the question of why an ethics of communication during academic training and the exercise of the profession.
