Transparency in Public Information on Extractive Industries in Ecuador (Phase 3)

This project aims to evaluate the application of the Organic Law of Transparency and Access to Information (LOTAIP) by extractive companies, particularly Chinese ones, regarding the information disseminated on the website of the Coordinating Ministry of Strategic Sectors. It addresses the gap between the availability of technological resources for disseminating quality information and its effective use by private entities managing state assets. The project builds upon previous work from 2018, which involved compiling regulations, developing compliance indicators, and subscribing to the Infoparticipa platform. This second phase focuses on translating the research findings into an academic product. The methodology employs qualitative content document analysis, using specific criteria to measure the quality and transparency of published information, including reviewing official websites, contracts, and reports available online. The ultimate goal is to ensure that private entities handling public funds or assets comply with their legal obligation to facilitate citizen participation and oversight.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>The main objective is to generate a detailed explanation regarding compliance with the Transparency Law in the information published by extractive companies on the website of the Coordinating Ministry of Strategic Sectors, in order to identify areas for improvement.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Communication, development and politics
