Theater as a Catalyst for Creative Minds (Teatro Down)

This project addresses the challenge of limited socialization and language use among children with Down Syndrome (DS), a condition characterized by intellectual disability linked to chromosome 21 trisomy. Drawing upon evidence indicating that theater improves behavior in this population, a case study is proposed in Guayaquil. The primary goal is to utilize drama as a catalyst to enhance the communicative abilities of 8 students with DS. The methodology employed is a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques. Rigorous observation processes and standardized measurement scales will be implemented to record and quantify the linguistic progress of the participants throughout the intervention. The expected outcome is that the theatrical intervention will significantly improve the children's capacity to interact and participate effectively within society.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To strengthen the language use of 8 children with Down Syndrome through the implementation of a theater-based program, aiming to significantly improve their communication process and social integration.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Art and literature
