Technological Disaggregation of Digital Ramps for Three Educational Units of the Fe y Alegría Ecuador Association

Project Details

Description

This research and technological development project focuses on addressing educational and social exclusion affecting students with disabilities, exacerbated by the lack of technological resources and adaptation, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic. The main objective is the technological disaggregation of digital ramps and other accessibility devices to enhance the educational and functional inclusion of students with multiple and severe disabilities in three Educational Units of the Fe y Alegría Association in Ecuador (Quito, Guayaquil, and Santo Domingo). The methodological approach includes analyzing technical requirements, designing, and constructing prototypes using technologies such as 3D printing and hardware programming, followed by implementation and training of educational staff. The goal is to develop functional, aesthetically pleasing, and low-cost prototypes, contrasting with expensive commercial solutions. Expected outcomes include the creation of functional prototypes, the development of a technical guide, and staff training, contributing to student autonomy and aligning with national policies on inclusion and ICT access. The project falls under the Inclusion Technologies research line and aims to generate a social impact by reducing technological access gaps for vulnerable populations.

Goal:
To construct assistive devices through the technological disaggregation of accessibility devices to promote the educational and functional inclusion of students with multiple and severe disabilities in Fe y Alegría educational centers in the cities of Quito, Guayaquil, and Santo Domingo.

Research lines:
Technologies and systems for educational and labor inclusion
