Strategies and Technologies for the Improvement of Collective Passenger Transport

The INSIA at the Polytechnic University of Madrid has over 30 years of consolidated experience in Public Passenger Transport (PPT) safety, actively collaborating with Spanish administrations like the DGT and representing Spain in international forums such as the UN's GRSP. This expertise includes promoting key regulations and maintaining Spain's sole comprehensive traffic accident database. Furthermore, INSIA applies advanced statistical methods, such as econometric models based on the DRAG methodology, to evaluate road safety policies and has developed safety auditing and certification systems for transport companies. The project builds upon a long history of over 30 years of cooperation with Latin American universities and institutions, including training engineers, professors, and PhDs, and running specialized master's programs in countries like Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. This collaboration has materialized through thematic networks like RETEICA, which has generated seed projects in Argentina, Ecuador, and Colombia, focusing on urban road safety research, infraction management, and the application of best practices, aiming to transfer knowledge and enhance transport safety across the region.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>The main objective of this project is to leverage the extensive experience of the Polytechnic University of Madrid's Automobile Research Institute (INSIA) in Public Passenger Transport (PPT) safety and traffic accident research to strengthen technical and academic cooperation with Latin American entities.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Transportation and mobility
