State of the Art: Indigenous Peoples in Urban Contexts

This bibliographic research project focuses on collecting, classifying, analyzing, and interpreting academic literature produced since the 1960s concerning indigenous peoples in Ecuadorian urban environments. The primary goal is to identify and analyze the theoretical and empirical trends emerging from key disciplines such as Anthropology, History, Sociology, Economics, and Political Science. The methodology involves systematizing and comparing secondary and documentary sources, applying content analysis to specific categories like indigenismo, urban ethnographies, urban ethnohistory, modernizing functionalism, contested ethnic identities, and political contestation. This state-of-the-art review is crucial for supporting the educational and training activities of the forthcoming UNESCO Chair on Indigenous Peoples in Urban Contexts at UPS, culminating in the presentation of findings to faculty and researchers.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>To interpret the different disciplinary trends within the social sciences that have produced academic materials concerning the indigenous presence in urban contexts in Ecuador.<br/><br/><b>Research lines</b>: <br/>Culture of the ancestral peoples
