Description
This project addresses the deterioration of public spaces in the La Esperanza and El Señor del Árbol sectors, within the Monjas River basin in Quito, caused by disorganized urbanization and the climate emergency. The proposal integrates Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), critical mapping, and participatory design to revitalize green and blue infrastructure, improving ecological connectivity and water management.
The methodology involves architecture students and the local community in co-design workshops, aiming to create a replicable intervention model. Spatial analysis tools and participatory mapping will be used to diagnose and project sustainable solutions that strengthen the territory's resilience against climate change.
Expected results include the publication of a methodological book and scientific articles, as well as the implementation of urban regeneration strategies that improve quality of life and socio-environmental equity in fragmented urban environments.<br/><br/><b>Goal</b>: <br/>Develop a comprehensive urban intervention methodology based on community co-design and nature-based solutions to regenerate public spaces in vulnerable sectors of Quito.
