The project 'Redefining the digital competencies of higher education actors in the context of post-globalization,' led by the GIE-TICEA group at Universidad Politécnica Salesiana, addresses the disconnect between academic training and the needs of the current digital labor market. Given the rapid technological transformation, many institutions have failed to adapt their curricula, creating a skills gap among teachers and students.
The project methodology includes a comprehensive assessment of the current state of higher education, followed by the identification of critical emerging competencies. The team, composed of experts in administration, engineering, and education, will develop specific training programs to strengthen these digital skills. The focus is on implementing educational technologies and innovative methodologies to improve the teaching-learning process.
As a result, universities are expected to align their training programs with 21st-century demands, improving graduate employability and providing teachers with tools for effective instruction.
